Offset reproduction refers to a photomechanical process of reproducing an original image by first "separating" the original painting’s colors into four principal colors and then recombining them on a printing press to duplicate the original work of art. This process results in prints that are exactly the same throughout the press run. By using the highest quality acid-free 80 lb rag paper and exact interpretation of color and tone of the original work, the print editions can honestly portray the artist’s visual conception to collectors. Because there are limits to the edition size, usually to 1,000 and 25 artist's proofs, they are known as limited edition offset reproductions and are highly collectible.
