Creating Works of Art
for the Love of it! |

Watercolors capture the essence of
my work. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, I began painting as a child, experimenting with different mediums
and styles, falling in love with the fluid and
transparent characteristics found in watercolors, along with my impatience
to see the finished work. Intrigued by my country surroundings, I started capturing the quiet country side, painting numerous
barns and landscapes throughout Pennsylvania, some of which are now gone
forever.
A great admirer
of wildlife artist Robert Bateman and famous watercolorist
Zoltan Szabo, I developed my style of deep color and intriguing
texture by using watercolors in a multiple layering technique together
with 300 lb Arches cold pressed watercolor paper. The results are
striking. The meticulous realism and detail represent my dedication to the achievement of a lifelike fidelity in
my paintings.
Detail beyond even the finest brush-stroke is effected by the use of
various pens using watercolors as ink and intricate dry brush methods. The
challenge is to achieve exceptional detail using watercolors and rough
watercolor paper. Some may view this as illustration and a waste of time,
however I don't paint for the market, but to please myself.
My paintings have won awards in
Pennsylvania (The Downtown Lancaster Art Show; Lancaster County Art
Association Winner’s Circle) and are part of various corporate and
private collectors in New York
(Independence Savings Bank, Brooklyn), Maryland (Arcadia Graphics,
Baltimore) and Pennsylvania (York Cancer Center, York and Hardees
Restaurant, Bedford). The biggest award for me is creating works of art
for the love of it!
